It is great to see Tim Tebow back in the NFL with the Patriots. He has been one of the most controversial figures in sports the past couple of years, and for what reason? His faith? At first thought it just seems unfair. Why is he being subjected to so much criticism and bad press? But when I look deeper, I realize that his journey has taken him to one of the best teams in the NFL. It was not a pretty sight at times, and the road was certainly rocky, but just look where he has landed (and for the record, I pray he is a huge success there). Could it be that the rocky path he was on was the only way to see the sights he is now viewing? And there it is, the real issue with so many people. We want a nice smooth, paved road,with no surprises, bumps, or detours when traveling the road of life. But have you ever been to the mountains? Some of the most magnificent views can only be seen by going "off road". It reminds me of Joseph, one of my favorite people in the Bible. I certainly would not wish to travel the path he did, but look where it took him. God had an awesome plan for his life and the path was not a comfortable one to get there. The most inspiring thing to me is the fact that his faith never wavered, because he was certain that God loved him, had a plan for his life, and was with him on the journey. I see the same mentality in Tebow, and it inspires me.
We unquestionably live in an age of moral depravity in our country. Where else can you watch a wholesome young man with a strong faith in Christ, solid moral values, and a commitment to purity be shredded by the media, while simultaneously watching said media sing the praises of a NBA no-name that decides its time to openly celebrate being homosexual? POOOOF! (that was my mind being blown).
